Was your holiday weekend filled with healthy choices from A to Z?
If you’re like most of us, that answer was a very clear (and loud) “no!”
So how do you get back on track after a weekend of delicious foods, drinks and not-so-healthy par takings?
1. Make a HEALTHY breakfast. Eating a healthy breakfast starts your day off right for a lot of reasons! It puts your metabolism in check and starts it off on a healthy kick. It also makes sure your body is starting its day with good nutrition, and that sets the stage for other foods you put in your mouth throughout the day. What constitutes a healthy breakfast? Balance. Lean protein. Quality carbs. Some healthy fats. Wa-la!
Example A: Eggs / Veggies
One (1) Egg + Egg whites (omelet or scrambled)
Veggies (non-starchy like broccoli, spinach, kale, peppers, onions, tomatoes, etc)
Blue or Goat cheese sprinkled within or on top
Salsa as a topper
Water/Low fat milk/Unsweetened Almond milk
Spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, cocoa, etc)
Dollop of Greek yogurt as a topper
2. Get sweaty!!! Rules of sweating — don’t go 3 days without it, and make sure you get a good sweat in at least 3 days a week. If you’re being active and using your muscles, your body feels better and is happier with you… therefore you feel less sluggish, more alive, and more confident. What do you do when those things are there? You tend to not sabotage your diet with less healthy food choices.
No need to go on and on… those two tips do WONDERS when you want to get your life back on track after a crazy weekend!
